A field app that works with no signal at all
Northwind's drivers delivered to rural sites with no connectivity. We built an offline-first Fieldwork app for proof of delivery, inspections and route updates.
The challenge
Where they started.
Paper delivery notes were returned to the office and re-typed, often days later. Proof-of-delivery was inconsistent, inspection checklists were skipped, and dispatch had no real-time view of progress.
Our approach
We rode along with drivers to understand the real conditions, then built an offline-first app that treats connectivity as the exception. Records sync the moment a device reconnects, with conflict handling built in.

What we built
The solution, in stages.
Offline capture
Deliveries, signatures, photos and inspections are captured entirely on-device.
Automatic sync
Queued records upload and reconcile in the background as soon as signal returns.
Live dispatch
Dispatch sees route progress and exceptions as records arrive, not the next day.
Photo proof-of-delivery
Geotagged photos and captured signatures replace paper delivery notes.
The results.

2.4x

98%

“Drivers stopped carrying paper and dispatch finally sees the day as it happens. It just works, even where phones don't.”
